    dcterms:description "Background of our study: A large body of evidence substantiates that the mental health of young children is critical for their long-term positive development. Resilience theory postulates that children’s dynamic systems with a high number of risk factors and only few resources make children more vulnerable to experience mental health problems, especially when exposed to new stressors. During 2020/2021 in Germany, the COVID-19 pandemic elicited constellations of increased risk and constrained resources, a “perfect storm” that might especially hit children from socio-economically disadvantaged families: Pandemic coerced to mandate social distancing policies (limiting social support), temporary cutbacks in institutional support services (e.g., complicating access to families in need) and a global economic downturn (reducing individual working opportunities). Thus, pandemic has likely put additional stress to families, especially whose are socio-economically disadvantaged. At the same time, German authorities mandated intermittent school closings for a total duration of 6 months over a period of 15 months to curb spreading of infections. This act withdrew children’s access to external resources, especially whose from socio-economically disadvantaged families. Still, the mental health trajectories of vulnerable children during pandemic have not been studied through the lens of resilience frameworks."^^rdf:string ;
